Please join Mothers Out Front and local community members to discuss the proposed expansion of the Borger Gas Compressor Station on Ellis Hollow Creek Rd near Genung. This is part of the Dominion New Market Project and would increase pressure along the pipeline leading to an additional 100,000,000 cubic feet of gas transmission per day through the 50+ year old pipeline and result in additional emissions from the expanded Borger station.
We are concerned about the climate impact of this gas expansion through methane gas leaks and periodic “blow-downs.” We are also concerned about the impact on air quality in the local area, especially given the facility’s lack of plans for air quality monitoring.
Borger is a major compressor facility and its expansion means an increase in emissions, which can impact residents who live and work within a 2km radius of this facility. This includes the Ellis Hollow Community Center which hosts a preschool and where we spend a lot of time with our children.
Potential health and other concerns will be presented at the meeting, followed by a discussion of what can be done to prevent the expansion, set up a system to monitor air quality, and pursue other measures to protect the community.
