Invitation from the host:
"Being a mother and now a grandmother is the main reason I'm so involved in
doing what I can to keep Mother Earth healthy for future generations.
It was great luck that I recently met with Lisa Marshall, our local Mothers Out
Front Representative and discovered there is a group in forming in Ithaca.
I'm happily hosting a gathering at my house (with coconut cake to
keep us energized) to discuss what we might do locally.
Why mothers (and fathers) and climate change? Climate change is no longer a
distant threat. We have a brief window to act if we are going to protect our
children from the most severe climate change impacts. We are facing many
local threats including a huge increase in gas flowing through the
pipeline and Borger Compression Station on Ellis Hollow Creek Road
as well as a new gas pipeline in Dryden. By acting locally, our collective
efforts around the state, the country and the world are making change.
Please invite others to join us, all are welcome. Fathers, grandfathers and folks
with concern but without offspring are welcome. All are needed in this urgent
movement to save our beautiful Mother Earth.
Please join me and Lisa for an interesting and energizing evening to discuss this
exciting initiative. Let's talk about how we can move forward, together. If we
come together – out of our shared concerns as well as our hopes and aspirations
for our children’s future – we can be a powerful force for change."
